About me and my qualifications

Cropwell Bishop

My name is Alistair Macdougall and I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice from my home in Cropwell Bishop, (near Bingham) Nottingham.

My interest in counselling and relationships took me to Nottingham University where I studied human relations, graduating with a Masters degree in 1996.

I then began working as a volunteer counsellor at Nottingham Counselling Centre and completed their integrative training program. I became an Accredited Counsellor at the Counselling Centre and worked with clients there for 10 years.

I have a diploma in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy from Temenos, an independent training organisation providing high quality training in the person-centred approach. I am committed to this approach and I am a member of the British Association for the Person-Centred Approach (BAPCA).

In 2007 I attended Warwick University to take an Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Methods for Person-Centred Practitioners. This involves drawing on ideas from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to use where appropriate in a person-centred counselling relationship.
